I’m sure there’s no message. Still, I check it again and again. Lately, I’ve been infected - foolish again. Can I remind you? You used to be proud, walking into this crowd. Don’t say you want to do it alone. We’re both looking to know: Who are the ones we prefer? I used to be her. Mistakes have been made and hearts have not been won. Did I tell you I was afraid of that promise you made? Come on, say you want to give it a go, and the patience to grow. I spent the weekend trying to make sense. All it made me was more distressed. How tragic, the unfinished things- magic, hanging on by a string. Remember when you said you were open? All that time I was broken. Now we are just torn and alone. I understand “hope”. But, I’ve got to be invited. It’s got to be decided, if you want to do it alone Don’t say you want to do it alone.

Everyone has to leave. You make me so angry sometimes, And I don't know what you think. This is my way of talking. I never know what to say. Yeah, this is my way of talking. Hey, would you give me a break? I’ve worked it out now. I’ve got the award for the short fuse in the pocket. I worked it out, but I don’t do nothing about it. Hey, everyone’s weak from the fight. I think it should be black and white, and that you ought to let me be. I’m not waiting to be fine again. I’m fine with the tragedy. Wouldn’t you say you’ve got the real problems? Why is it me who’s been assigned to solve them? I solve it with my way of talking. Searching for your opinion. I guess, for me, it’s all or nothing.
Failing myself and forcing you to listen- just like a broken record you’re tired of hearing. Nothing I can say, in my way, will make it happen.

We came here to summit the mountain. We came here to erase the doubt. We’ve got rivers to ford and peaks to climb, But no one is there to carry the weight for you. No one is there to hear your cries for help. And we are lost in the wild. We are children, loose in the forest, Feet swollen from running around and around in circles. I’ve come back here to familiar ground, But we’ve seen the same trail all afternoon. We are lost in a wild dream. I blew the whistle. You never heard it; You threw the flare up, but I never saw it. All my joints have been broken, trying to keep you moving. Your hands have been frozen, trying to keep me warm, And we get lost in the shortcut, trying to catch up. We are children, still exploring the world, Getting caught out and missing the dinner bell. Should we make camp, settle and hope for a changing season Or hike our own hike and keep looking for a reason to explain Why we are so lost and injured by the wild? I don’t think we’ll ever summit the mountain. I don’t believe there is only one. We’ll die out here if someone doesn’t find us. Out among the grandeur and the terrifying walks- We are lost.

about

Rarities is a collage of three songs, each recorded in a distinctly different era, over the course of the artist's six year residency in Nebraska. The songs were penned long before that, but have been dusted off and gently polished, sentimental patina intact. The material represents moments frozen in time, unrefined, with a deep honesty and raw delivery. These are Rarities, both in performance and presentation.

SAS Lincoln, Nebraska

SAS presents her intuitive approach to writing through a sonic tapestry, woven together with rich guitar playing and etherial, offbeat voiceings. Raw, distinctive and honest, her candid observations and introspective meanderings will strike a chord of familiarity with listeners who are open to confronting and examining emotional challenges, and unveiling false realities.
